“Excellent modern hotel in historic district” Reviewed October 15, 2011 NEW

This is a beautiful, small, completely very modern hotel in the Old Town section of Bratislava. The location is very convenient to nearly all of the major tourist sites in Bratislava. The rooms are "European" sized, meaning a little small by American standards, but they are immaculately clean, comfortable, modern and quiet. The hotel is located down a small alley off the main north-south pedestrian street in Old Town (meaning you have to walk a few blocks to the nearest cab drop-off). Despite the small size of the hotel, the breakfast selection was varied, fresh, delicious. My mother and I stayed in Bratislava for a night last year as we traveled between Budapest and Vienna - I would highly recommend adding a night in Bratislava to your itinerary when traveling in Central Europe. The relaxed speed and quaint look/feel of the city is a addition to a trip.We couldn't have been happier with Hotel Michalska Brana. The location is fabulous - on a quiet, narrow street just off the main street of old town. The building is extremely old but, once inside, the hotel is incredibly modern and accommodating. It was the perfect combination!The staff could not have been more hospitable and welcoming and the rooms were comfortable and clean. “A Great Choice”

We stayed for one night on our way from Prague to Budapest. We couldn't have been happier with the hotel. A clean, modern room in a quiet alley just off from one of the main streets filled with restaurants and shops. They even organized a private taxi for us to the bus station for 10 Euros, which is at least 5 less than the going rate. “Amazing hotel and staff !!!”

From the time we began communications with the hotel until our departure, we were very impressed with Michalska Brana. We traveled with 2 children (7&10) and were able to stay in one of the suites. The modern design of the rooms was very nice. There was plenty of room for our family to not be on top of each other. The location of the hotel was perfect. We were able to walk to the castle and throughout town very easily. It was only a 15-20 minute walk down to the mall on the river as well. Everywhere we went, the people spoke English and we had no problems communicating. Everything we wanted or needed was just a short walk away. Bratislava was supposed to be just a little side trip of our Austrian vacation but we wished we had a couple more days to see more of the wonderful city. When we make it back to Bratislava (and we will), we will definitely be staying at the Michalska Brana again.
